The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 states that the employer or person responsible for a property (excluding private dwellings) MUST have a Fire Risk Assessment carried out annually. It is advisable for the responsible person to use a competent person to either carry out or assist with the Fire Risk Assessment, and to advise on any equipment or systems which may be required in order to meet the necessary legislation
