Makita Power Improves Bruce RID Recycling Recovery Rates.
The Makita range of industrial power tools has proved to be a great success in the WEEE recycling of electronics equipment at Bruce RID Recyclings Sheffield processing plant.
Since appointing Bruce RID Recycling Ltd, to manage the secure disposal and recycling of Makita products that have to be destroyed, as they are beyond economic repair, almost 93% by weight, is being recycled.
Cable, steel, aluminium and copper, together with all the old plastic storage boxes are recovered, separated and recycled to make new products.
The two companies have worked together for a number of years in order to achieve a recycling rate, well in excess of that required by the WEEE Directive, for category 6 power tools.
Furthermore, Makita has recently fitted out the dis-assembly lines, at Bruce RID Recycling, with its latest range of industrial power tools, which have significantly improved speed, productivity and efficiency.
Stephen Daughtrey, Managing Director at Bruce RID Recycling said “Both companies have worked in close liaison to ensure compliance with WEEE regulations. We also report the detailed material recovery rates, on behalf of Makita, to their producer compliance scheme, using our bespoke data capture computer system.
Despite the recent decline in the market for recycled metals and plastics, we are confident that the systems we have in place, will continue to prove a cost effective solution for the safe, secure disposal and recycling of Makitas product range.”
