Giving Back to Society as well as the Earth!

Specialist electronic lifecycle services organisation, the S2S Group, are partnering up with the Sheffield Chamber of Commerce and Industry to raise awareness to the Chamber’s members and non members of their recycling and social responsibilities, whilst enabling them to make charitable donations.

The S2S Group, whose mission it is to provide the most cost effective environmental solution to their customers, can provide the recycling of end-of-life electrical and electronic equipment and parts, as well as the remarketing of redundant IT Equipment and Mobile Phones, enabling their clients to generate revenue credits. Through this new partnership, the group who states they are focussed on community investment, is giving the chamber’s members the opportunity to donate their credits gained to the Sheffield Chamber’s charity of the year, ‘Kickstart!’

Alanna Drysdale, Marketing Manager at the S2S Group said ‘Focussing on our social responsibilities as well as our environmental responsibilities is extremely important to the S2S Group. Continuing with our charity support work, we wanted to help and encourage our customers to donate funds gained from the recycling or remarketing of their redundant equipment to charity, and our new partnership with the Chamber has enabled us to do this. We are collecting and recycling the electronic equipment free of charge where possible, and have made a small donation to the charity ourselves to start the process off.’

The S2S Group works from a high security site based in Sheffield and provides data destruction services to UK government approved standards. Alanna said ‘As well as enabling our customers to meet their social and environmental responsibilities, our customers can also be guaranteed that they will be fully compliant with the data protection laws if they request one of our destruction solutions. We provide data destruction to FSA guidelines and data erasure to CESG standards.’

The Sheffield centre based charity, Kickstart, provides a rehabilitation programme to help people overcome the effects of substance misuse, and empowering drug users to take control of their lives as well as recognising their responsibility to themselves and others as a valuable part of the community. Their work is only possible with the assistance of donations from members of the local and surrounding community, and with the help of the S2S and Chamber partnership, sufferers will not have to face their challenges alone.

Christine Tooze, Chief Executive of Kickstart said, ‘We are thrilled to be included in this partnership and be the beneficiaries of such a worthwhile operation. At Kickstart our focus is on supporting people and their families; our future generations, and this project helps us widen our focus to the environment around us too. We have already sourced a number of businesses who are willing to recycle their electronic waste and hope that many more will follow too.’

Amanda Pilgrim, Head of Business Development at Sheffield Chamber of Commerce and Industry said, ‘This is a fantastic opportunity for our members. It gives them the option to recycle as well as help a local charity. We’re delighted to be working with the S2S Group.’
