Neogen Europe Ltd. provides the UK’s only commercial Shellfish Testing Service. We test for shellfish toxins including those responsible for Amnesic Shellfish Poisoning (ASP), Diarrhetic Shellfish Poisoning (DSP) and Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning (PSP). Shellfish poisoning is caused by a group of toxins elaborated by planktonic algae (dinoflagellates, in most cases) upon which the shellfish feed. The toxins are accumulated and sometimes metabolized by the shellfish. In addition to shellfish toxin testing, Neogen Europe Ltd. has the resources to test for heavy metals and other toxins on request.
