About Us

Napier Turbochargers are world leaders in the design, manufacture and support of industrial turbochargers.

The function of a turbocharger is to use the exhaust gas energy of an internal combustion engine (which would otherwise be wasted) to drive a turbine wheel and hence a compressor. The compressor increases the pressure and density of the charge in the engine cylinder, thereby increasing the power above that of a naturally aspirated engine.

Turbocharging has been shown to be the most successful method of reducing cost, weight and space requirement of diesel engine installations, and is recognised as a reliable method of improving their performance, efficiency and fuel consumption.

Napier Turbochargers Ltd design, manufacture, market and support a range of high efficiency Industrial turbochargers. Over the last 60 years the Napier brand has built a reputation based on quality, reliability and customer service.

With over 60 years of experience, Napier have produced in excess of 50,000 turbochargers with applications in the Marine, Power Generation and Rail industries and we have turbochargers running on fuels ranging from marine diesel oil and natural gas to varying qualities of HFO and landfill gas, operating in a range of climates and environmental conditions.

The current Napier 7 Series product spans engine outputs from 2MW to 6.5MW per single turbocharger and is based around the original Napier cartridge design.
