BIOMASS BUILDER™ has been specially formulated for start-up and performance enhancement of wastewater treatment systems to ensure the development and balanced growth of an optimum, functional biomass.
The overall efficiency of any biological treatment system depends upon the balance between the appropriate bacterial populations and their availability to promote the biodegradation of organic components in the receiving wastewaters. As these bacteria work in a synergistic manner, the rate of biodegradation and the overall plant performance are greatly improved if the appropriate range of microbial types are present in their optimum relative proportions.
In the majority of cases, treatment plants seeded with activated sludge that has been imported from other treatment systems will experience extended timescales in reaching their desired efficiency and their desired performance criteria, particularly if the receiving treatment wastewater contains significantly different components to those in the plant that donated the seeding material or if the donated seeding material was obtained from a plant suffering from significant biomass stress.
