Otter fencing should be a minimum of 1200mm high above ground with a top mesh angled out.
The base should be dug to a depth of 400mm, some terrains may require a 100mm depth with a horizontal section clipped of 300-450mm in the direction away from the highway.
7.5cm vertical wire spacing is perfectly suitable for badgers however for otter fence we highly recommend a 5cm vertical wire spacing. A maximum of 100mm x 50mm mesh is advised.
Please note this is a special order item.
The wire used in the production of XFENCE net has an improved coating which provides greater durability. Since the development of zinc/aluminium coated wire in 1984, various companies have used this coating to provide a longer life for their products. McVeigh Parker are also offering this XTRALIFE as standard in all their range of high tensile horse, stock and security XFENCE fencing products.
XTRALIFE wire offers superior corrosion resistance which is ideally suited to industrial and coastal areas, lasting up to four times longer than heavily galvanised wire. The traditional galvanised coating can have the tendency to be brittle and crack when tying off, whereas the XTRALIFE zinc/alu mixture provides a more pliable wire and will not crack when the wire is twisted making it easier to erect.
The tensile strength and coating used in the manufacturing of XFENCE make it the wire of choice with fencing contractors.
