St. Peters Mortuary - Bespoke Louvre Panels

FenceTek were successful in resolving a tricky issue for the Mortuary at St. Peter's Hospital, Chertsey. Having already supplied the Main Contractor, Costain Limited, with temporary hoarding around a very tight site, FenceTek were asked to design a secure sliding gate for vehicular access into the mortuary reception area and metal louvre panels to various levels on two elevations. The design brief not only had to take into account the very tight site parameters and security but also reduce the visibility into the areas from the neighbouring buildings and pedestrians. A standard build would normally require the installation company to supply and erect the steel support work for the metal louvre panels, in this instance however, the support frame work was already in place. FenceTek co-ordinate the design work, bringing together the Louvre Panel Manufacture, Luxtrade, and Main Contractor, Costain, to discuss and agree the design of the many special panels on a multi-level site. The Site requirement was for two heights of panels 2100 and 2350 mm to the service yard area, 2530 mm high panels to the upper level and a matching manual double leaf swing gate 2600 high x 1690 mm wide to the lower level. The louvre panels and gate were a bespoke design to ensure that the reception areas were completely concealed. The panels were manufactured with 40 x 2 mm flat bars spaced at 22 mm apart and at a 45° angle to give a 3 mm overlap per bar. The panel edges consist of SHS, RSA and RHS sections to attach to the existing site steel work. The panels were galvanised to EN ISO 1461 and polyester powder coated, giving a clean and robust look. FenceTek Gate Automation Department designed, supplied and installed a matching automated cantilevered sliding gate, to the service yard area. The gate was 2600 mm high and spanned a clear opening of 6500 mm, with safety features complying with BS EN 13241-1. With the tight restraints of the site and the many bespoke panels, installation was difficult but successfully completed with the close co-operation of the manufacturer Luxtrade and the main contractor Costain limited.
