FLEX II is a low viscosity epoxy system, the main characteristic is that it has very high elongation, over 75 %, when curing conditions are at the optimum. It can be used for hand lay up, infusion/RTM, casting and filament winding application.
Using the same hardener, two resin are available with different reactivity.
Thanks to its specific elongation, it gives to the composite a high impact resistance, if used with aramid, or glass fibre. Applied in thin layers like a varnish, or with several layers of reinforcement fabrics, it will also offer a rather good resistance to UV, water, or chemical products from - 40 to 70 ° C.
Originally formulated, for decoration application, it is now used by others industries which requires specific mechanicals properties. This epoxy is able to compete, at lower costs, with others flexible protections like P.U. Nevertheless, the only restraint in using this system in large industrial applications could be the very long gel time needed to obtain a really flexible result.
